I’m the guy making the leather gear. I’ve always loved how leather looks and feels… and the aroma of good quality leather is unbeatable. Leather is used for so many purposes, too. Purposes, really, is why I started leatherworking. Like so many other people in this world (you for instance, if you’re reading this), I didn’t want to settle for just “function over fashion,” or, even less acceptable, fashion at the expense of quality and functionality.
My family, friends, and I love being outdoors. We’re fortunate to live in a place like Utah, home to some of the most breathtaking wilderness imaginable, in a country like the United States of America, where we’re free to go explore. I saw an opportunity to make leather goods that were inspired by the adventures we go on, with the purpose of being sturdy, great looking, and useful. Everything I make gets used (hard) and becomes even more beautiful when it gets worn in. My boys will undoubtedly inherit the leather goods I use now, and the stories that go with them, when they’re grown.
I want to thank you for checking out Hidelab. Whether you just heard about us or you’re coming back, I hope you have experiences like ours. If you like old-world-style craftsmanship, have a love for the outdoors, and value functional, great-looking leather gear, or any version of these things, then we have something in common. Hopefully I’ll run into you at the lake, on the trail, or somewhere in the sticks. Have fun outside with your people (and dogs)!
